La The Cryptshow Festival was born in 2007 in order to fill a culturally empty space in the metropolitan city of Barcelona: terror. But terror in a broad sense. Cryptshowis a multi-disciplinary festival that not only accommodates the Seventh Art but also its literature, illustration and music. The festival was born in a bar and has grown. It now hosts one of the most competitive Short Film Festivals in Spain, in one of the most emblematic venues in Badalona, the Círcol Católic.
The Serra Circular award is a refenence point within the genre, open to all-comers, from young film makers to established directors. Julian Doyle, Jordi Grou and Miguel Iglesias Bonns are among the directors who have visited the festival and offered help and advice to their fledgling counterparts. Because the festival payshomage to the past while, at the same time, reaching out to the future. And not only to film. The Short Story Competition has become increasingly successful and every year young (and not so young) literary talents contribute to our book Cryptonomikon. Cryptshow festival: apology of terror, fantasy and scifi
